Pint of Science 2016 Erwin presents Artificial Photosynthesis to the public in the Panton Arms for the Pint of Science festival.
Dance video Cambridge Contemporary Dance releases a video inspired by the group's research, which was premiered alongside Erwin's Pint of Science talk (available here).
EPSRC photo competition Kasia, Micaela and Jamues win second place in the 'Equipment' category (shown on theguardian.com). "Dark field light microscopy picture of a 40 nm thick electrodeposited TiO2 layer, focusing on developing sustainable fuels, such as hydrogen, through water splitting reactions."
2015
Light workshop 2015. The lab hosted a workshop to teach the fundamentals behind solar fuel research to enthusiatic young scientists.
The Reisner lab featured on Newton (ORF). The lab was featured on ORF's weekly science show, Newton. The broadcast featured a look around the lab and Cambridge, whilst discussing the science behind water-splitting and solar hydrogen production.
Erwin's TV interview on ORF. Erwin was interviewed during a 30 min 'Science Talk' by the Austrian national television broadcaster ORF in January 2015 about our work on artificial photosynthesis.
E-Luminate festival 2015. The Cambridge e-Luminate festival is an annual event in which artists use light to create stunning visual displays. In February 2015 our laboratory teamed up with local artist Marina Velez to create a display showcasing the use of light in artificial photosynthesis. A large projection of a bubbling electrode was shown between 4 and 11 pm every night between the 11th and 15th of February to catch the eyes of passers-by.
Cambridge Science festival 2015. This year our group again demonstrated the use of some alternative energy sources to the local community. A fruit bowl battery, a hydrogen powered car and a bubbling sample of one of our hydrogen evolving catalysts were all on display. A brief summary can be found - here
2011, 2012 & 2014
The Cambridge Science Festival showcases a number of interesting experiments to help get children interested in chemistry. Each year our group heads up the 'Clean Energy' stand at the festival where we demonstrate alternative sources of energy. Our experiments include lemon batteries, berry solar cells and a hydrogen powered car. A picture with Manuela at the Kids University Vienna is shown on the right.
