Applications from interested students and postdoctoral researchers to join the group are welcome. Please e-mail to discuss potential projects and any possibilities to join the laboratory.

Postdoctoral positions: Funding is periodically available for postdoctoral researchers. Fellowship applications to external funding bodies from suitable candidates with a strong track record and relevant scientific background are particularly encouraged. Time is critical and please get in touch early with a cover letter, CV, a list of three referees and a list of potential funding bodies.

PhD positions:
Typically three PhD students join our group each year. Please get in touch as early as possible (ideally about a year in advance) and apply with a cover letter, CV, a list of two referees and academic transcripts by e-mail. Information about graduate studies at Cambridge is available here. A 'preliminary application form' and 'full application form' are available online.

Undergraduate research projects: Typically one undergraduate research position is available each year. You may join us either as Part III (final year) student (start October) or Erasmus exchange student (preferably from October until June).


Current openings:

1 PA Position: We are looking for a well-organised Administrator/Personal Assistant (PA) to provide administrative support for the Christian Doppler laboratory, to support the members of the Doppler laboratory and act as PA to the Head of the Doppler laboratory, Dr. Erwin Reisner. The following PhD positions will become available in 2014:

1 Doppler PhD studentship: possible start dates January, April or October 2014

1 PhD studentship: Start date ideally October 2014

Applicants should have (or expect to obtain) a First Class honours degree (and preferably a Masters) in a relevant scientific discipline. The studentship will cover the University and College tuition fees at the Home/EU rate and provide a maintenance grant (i.e., 13,000 to 14,000 GBP tax free per year as your salary).  Non-EU nationals will be considered if they can cover the differential for overseas tuition fees.
